We're looking for a Setter

A passionate and experienced one at that, to join our in-house team and hit the ground running.

This is a Level 2 role, so you’ll already have solid experience setting blocs and be confident working without supervision during a set. You’ll take ownership of your work, meeting deadlines while maintaining a high standard of quality and attention to detail. Experience setting routes is a bonus, but not essential.

Location: Queensferry, North Wales

At The Boardroom, we aim to inspire new and experienced climbers by creating fun, repeatable, and inclusive routes. We draw from our industry experience considering both the business needs and evolving. We shape people’s first impression of The Boardroom, celebrating that climbing is power and perseverance, flow and grace and everything in between. This ensures The Boardroom is a place for all people to explore the wide range of styles, challenges, and learning opportunities that indoor climbing has to offer.

About the Role

This is a Level 2 role, so you’ll already have solid experience setting boulders and be confident working without supervision during a set. You’ll take ownership of your work, meeting deadlines while maintaining a high standard of quality and attention to detail. Experience setting routes is a bonus, but not essential.

You’ll be confident working at height and using equipment safely and efficiently, playing an active role in maintaining a safe working environment for the whole team.

We’re a collaborative setting team, so you’ll be comfortable both giving and receiving feedback. You’ll be able to contribute ideas, adapt based on input, and thrive in a professional and feedback-rich team.

We’re therefore looking for someone who’s motivated by opportunities to learn and improve. You don’t need to be the most well-rounded setter on day one, but you should be willing to step outside your comfort zone, develop new styles, and take ownership of your progression.

The role is physically demanding, and you’ll need the fitness and resilience to manage full set days while maintaining consistency.

You’ll be comfortable setting across a range of styles. Experience bouldering and setting at higher grades and/or routes is beneficial, but not essential.

This role would suit someone looking for the flexibility of a week-on, week-off pattern, combined with the stability of an in-house position.

  • Physio allowance
  • Workwear allowance (basically free climbing shoes)
